Research Interests:

The rapid growth of the global fashion industry has led to a significant increase in pre-consumer textile waste, posing a critical environmental challenge. This paper explores a comprehensive framework for establishing an in-house, sustainable textile and garment recycling process directly within a garment manufacturing factory. By shifting from a linear production model to a circular economy approach, manufacturers can effectively intercept fabric scraps, cutting waste, and defective garments before they leave the facility. Implementing this system involves a structured multi-step process: advanced in-house segregation of waste by material composition, mechanical crushing and fiber reclamation, and blending recycled fibers back into the spinning line to produce high-quality sustainable yarn. Additionally, this study analyzes the reduction of the carbon footprint, water preservation, and cost efficiency achieved by reducing reliance on virgin raw materials. The integration of sustainable HR management practices ensures that the workforce is actively engaged, trained, and aligned with international environmental compliance standards. Ultimately, this operational model serves as a practical blueprint for apparel manufacturers worldwide—particularly in major manufacturing hubs like Bangladesh—demonstrating that industrial-scale garment production can successfully harmonize commercial profitability with aggressive environmental sustainability goals.
